Willsboro, NY – Join BRASS and the Essex County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) on Saturday, April 27th at 10am to plant tree and shrub seedlings on Ben Wever Farm property in the Town of Willsboro.

The goal of the project is to create a vegetative buffer along this tributary to the North Branch. The buffer will help stabilize the banks, provide wildlife habitat and eventually provide shade for the tributary. Reducing the amount of soil loss along the river will promote and protect fisheries habitat as well as decrease the amount of sediment and nutrients directly entering Lake Champlain.

Ben Wever Farm is owned by Shaun and Linda Gilliland and is located at 444 Mountain View Drive (county route 88). From Willsboro, the Farm is located just beyond Joe Rivers Lane. From Reber, it is located just past Nolette Lane. If you have any questions, contact Dave Reckahn, district manager of the Essex County SWCD, at 585-322-6737.

We hope to see you out there! Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and footwear; bring work gloves, a shovel (if you have one) and plenty of water and snacks.

BRASS is a membership-based, volunteer-oriented grassroots organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of water and life in the 280-square mile watershed, which runs from the Adirondack High Peaks to Lake Champlain. Visit us at www.boquetriver.org.
